Black Arrow is a motorcycle apparel brand that does not shy away from having the best of both worlds. Founded in 2015 by fashion designer and motorcycle rider Hannah Smith, Black Arrow encapsulates her philosophy that style does not have to be sacrificed for safety.
At Black Arrow the vision is to supply women with safe, well fitting motorcycle apparel that not only looks like it’s come from one of their favourite boutiques, but also includes an array of safety features like Kevlar© lining and CE approved armour.
Designed by women, for women, Hannah has taken her experience as a fashion designer of ten years to create a brand that was the first to specialise in producing motorcycle gear specifically for women. In twelve months Black Arrow has now grown with global stockists and customers and due to popular demand has developed two men’s styles based on the top selling women’s jackets.
For Black Arrow the $29,000 MINI Bright Rays Grant would go towards further testing of all the brand's apparel to make sure it is the best product it can be and use these results alongside a global marketing campaign to boost brand awareness through social media, print media, motorcycle event sponsorships and rider sponsorships.
Hannah wants to show other riders that there is a brand available providing both style and safety so there's no temptation to wear a jacket without protection when next getting on a motorcycle.
With the demand for Black Arrow rapidly growing, the brand plans to expand its product offering and delve into using more technically advanced fabrications as well as keeping its finger on the fashion pulse.
